Dmitry Belik, a State Duma deputy from Sevastopol and a member of the International Affairs committee, on January 26 described the recent statement by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, who called "Soviet Moscow" and "imperial Petersburg" allegedly enemies of Ukraine, as manipulation and a manifestation of ignorance.

"Zelensky's desire to abandon the Soviet past, to blot out history, replacing it with a Nazi component, is a vile manipulation of memory in order to distort and hide inconvenient truths," Belik told RIA Novosti.

According to the deputy, Zelensky's attempts to justify the policy of the Kiev regime only confirm his ignorance of history. He added that despite their incorporation into the Russian Empire, Ukrainians were able to preserve their national identity and culture.

On the same day, Kirill Dmitriev, special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, called Zelensky's speech in Davos unsuccessful. According to the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), the delay in accepting territorial concessions prevents the conclusion of a peace agreement.

On January 24, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, described the speech of the Ukrainian president in Davos as an insult to the European Union. He noted that Zelensky's criticism of European countries should have led to "punishment."
