Trump demanded to ban local authorities from providing asylum to migrants
US President Donald Trump has called on Congress to pass a law prohibiting local authorities in large cities from creating favorable conditions for illegal immigrants. He announced this on January 25 on the Truth Social network.
"American cities should be safe havens only for law-abiding American citizens, not for illegal immigrants who have violated the laws of our country. All these demands are based on common sense and will create the best conditions for making America great again," Trump wrote.
He also called on Democrats, including the governor of Minnesota and the mayor of Minneapolis, to cooperate with the Federal Immigration Police (ICE) to transfer illegal migrants and assist in their detention.
Earlier, on January 22, it was reported that Trump proposed to involve NATO to protect the southern border of the United States from illegal migrants. In his opinion, this will reduce the burden on border patrol agents and direct them to other tasks. The US President stressed that such measures would help strengthen the country's security and reduce the number of violations of immigration laws.
