In the United States, at least seven people died amid the collapse of abnormal frosts in the country. This was reported on January 25 by CNN.

So, at least one person died even in the southern state of Texas, said Austin Mayor Kirk Watson during a press conference.

"I can't stress enough the importance of staying indoors during such severe weather, even though we survived the night. We are still in for very, very cold weather," the TV channel quoted him as saying.

Another victim was a 19-year-old college student. The body was found a day after he was reported missing.

Also on this day, it became known that the New York City authorities decided to close all public schools on January 26 due to a snowstorm. It is noted that dozens of schools in Washington were also suspended due to weather conditions. New York Mayor Zahran Mamdani also added that this measure was introduced for the safety of schoolchildren amid dangerous weather conditions.

It was reported that the number of homes in the United States left without electricity amid a snowstorm exceeded 500 thousand. The total number of outages exceeded 523 thousand: the states of Tennessee (128 thousand), Texas (126 thousand), Mississippi (114 thousand) and Louisiana (85 thousand) accounted for the most.
