There are no reservoirs for the accumulation of the Nipah virus on the territory of Russia, and the conditions for its spread in the country have not been formed. This was announced on January 25 by Alexey Agranovsky, Professor of the Department of Virology at the Faculty of Biology of Lomonosov Moscow State University.

"This is a problem far from us. These viruses are endemic, they are characteristic of certain territories. It's not "one sneezed, the other got infected." The situation is completely different from the situation with, say, coronavirus or the flu," he said in an interview with RT.

According to Agranovsky, special conditions, including the presence of animal vectors, are necessary for the sustainable existence of the virus in any territory.
