An earthquake of magnitude 4.9 occurred in western Turkey. This was reported on January 24 on the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).
The epicenter of the earthquake was located 62 km south-east of the city of Balikesir, which has a population of more than 238 thousand people, as well as 11 km from the district of Syndyrgi, where about 10.9 thousand people live.
The hearth was located at a depth of 11 km.
