Toh Lam was re-elected to the post of General Secretary of the Central Committee (CC) of the Communist Party of Vietnam for a five-year term. This became known on January 23 following the results of the 14th party Congress.
It is noted that Toh Lam became the head of the party in August 2024. He was elected to the relevant post after the death on July 19, 2024 of 80-year-old Nguyen Phu Trong, who had served as Secretary General since 2011.
