In Kronstadt, a testing ground for drones may be created at the SEZ site.
The site within the framework of the special economic zone (SEZ) in Kronstadt is potentially considered as a place to create a testing ground for drones. This was announced on January 22 by Alexander Sitov, Chairman of the city Committee on Industrial Policy, Innovation and Trade.
"We consider this site, among other things, as a testing ground for unmanned aircraft systems, in addition to production purposes," TASS quoted him as saying.
In addition, the issue of leasing the territory of the Bychye Pole airfield to St. Petersburg Technopark JSC for use in the interests of the Scientific and Production Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (NPC BAS) is being worked out.
Earlier, on January 16, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the experience of combat drone pilots of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) should be in demand in civilian life. The Russian leader also stressed that due to the development of unmanned systems, a serious review of personnel training mechanisms is required. He asked the Government to develop comprehensive training programs.
