US intelligence officials are questioning the reasons for Russia's continued military operation in Ukraine. This was announced on January 20 by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh.

"US intelligence officials... now they are wondering why [Russian President Vladimir Putin — ed.] Putin... the conflict continues," Hersh writes.

He also notes that the attitude of the American special services to the situation is characterized by "hopelessness and anger."
