The Danish authorities are threatening to take away the land on which the buildings of the Russian Embassy in the country are located. This was announced on January 20 by Russian Ambassador to Copenhagen Vladimir Barbin.

"As a result of the repressive decisions of the Danish government, the size of the Russian diplomatic mission has been significantly reduced. <...> Copenhagen City Hall is threatening to take away the land on which the buildings of the Russian diplomatic mission are located," he said in an interview with TASS.

He added that in the face of strong opposition from the Danish authorities, it is difficult to resolve practical issues, including obtaining and extending accreditation for embassy staff.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Barbin described Copenhagen as "maniacally" determined to confront Moscow. This, in his opinion, makes normal cooperation between the countries impossible.

Barbin also noted that Copenhagen is one of Ukraine's main sponsors and seeks to inflict a "strategic defeat" on Russia. According to him, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen views Russia's possible victory as a "catastrophe" for the West and the international order.
