A meeting of various parties on the situation with Greenland will be held in Davos, Switzerland. This was announced on January 20 by US President Donald Trump following telephone conversations with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

"I had a very good phone conversation with Mark Rutte, the Secretary General of NATO, about Greenland. I have agreed to a meeting of various parties in Davos, Switzerland," the American leader wrote on the Truth Social network.

Trump noted that he had clearly expressed the importance of Greenland for the security of the United States and the entire world.

"There is no turning back — everyone agrees on this!" he concluded.

Earlier in the day, the US president said that Denmark was not capable of defending Greenland. According to him, some Danish officials don't even visit the island. He added that the United States should get the island.

On January 17, the American leader said that the United States was imposing duties of 10% with the possibility of increasing up to 25% on a number of European countries in connection with the situation around Greenland. Starting from February 1, 2026, tariffs will apply to the United Kingdom, Norway, Germany, Sweden, France, Denmark, the Netherlands and Finland.
