Vilfand denied the data on a sharp cold snap in the Central Federal District

On January 20, Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, denied data on a sharp cooling to -36 degrees in the Central Federal District (CFD) this week.

"After the rather frosty weather over the weekend, when the weather was determined by an anticyclone and the underlying surface was cooled at night with a cloudy sky, the temperature reached -24 — -26 degrees on the night from Saturday to Sunday," the RIA Novosti news agency quoted Vilfand as saying.

It is noted that the first half of the week will be quite warm — the temperature will not drop below -14 degrees.
