A cybersecurity conference to which Switzerland will invite Russia and other members of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) will be held in Zug on September 29-30. This was announced on January 19 by the head of the information service of the Swiss Foreign Ministry, Nicolas Bidault.

"Russia will be invited along with all other OSCE participating states," Bidault said, according to TASS.

The conference will be called "De-escalation in Cyberspace: Mediation and preventive Diplomacy." According to Bidault, it will focus on "the risks of escalation in cyberspace and ways to eliminate them through preventive diplomacy and mediation."

Last November, Vladimir Khokhlov, a spokesman for the Russian Embassy in Switzerland, told Izvestia that the success of Switzerland's OSCE chairmanship would largely depend on how sincerely the Swiss were willing to act as an unbiased broker. Last year, Russia agreed with the Swiss candidacy, but this agreement was largely an advance to Bern, the diplomat noted.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
