On Monday, January 19, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin awarded the city's journalism awards to representatives of leading media outlets. Among the award winners are journalists from Vechernyaya Moskva, Channel One, Rossiya TV channel, TV Center channel, NTV television company, Argumenty I Fakty, Moskovsky Komsomolets, Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspapers, employees of Moscow Media, and the ITAR-TASS news agency.

Sergei Sobyanin congratulated the laureates on their professional holiday, Russian Press Day, and the award of the Moscow Prize in Journalism.

"The press and mass media have always played a huge role in our country, and in any other. But when military operations take place, a special military operation, the role of the media becomes critical. Journalists from the front line are reporting, risking their lives, informing our citizens what is happening there. The heroism of our fighters shapes the patriotism of our citizens and the unity of our country and the unity of our country. It is difficult to overestimate this role," Sergei Sobyanin said.

The mayor noted that the city is trying to form event plots. The development of urban economy, transport, the construction of the metro, the renovation program, new hospitals, clinics and schools are what millions of Muscovites live by.

"I would like to thank you for our cooperation and for your professional dedication," the mayor said.

The Moscow Prize in Journalism for fruitful journalistic activity and operational coverage of the special military operation was awarded to members of the VM team: Veronika Ushakova, editor of the news service, Marat Chernyshov, special correspondent, senior lieutenant, and Alexey Khoroshilov, special correspondent of the Moscow Power department.

The Moscow Journalism Awards have been awarded since 2001 for creating the most talented and relevant journalistic materials, television and radio broadcasts about Moscow and Muscovites, and for covering important issues of the socio-economic and cultural life of the capital.
