On January 19, the African Football Confederation (CAF) criticized the behavior of participants in the final match of the Africa Cup of Nations, in which the national teams of Senegal and Morocco met.

"The organization strongly condemns any inappropriate behavior during matches, especially directed against the refereeing team or the organizers of the matches. The Confederation will review all the videos and transfer the case to the competent authorities to take appropriate measures against the perpetrators," the text of the CAF statement is reported by Sport-Express.

It is noted that the African Football Confederation condemns the unacceptable behavior of "some players and officials" at the Cup final.

The incident occurred during the extra time of the main match with the score 0-0, when the referee awarded a penalty in favor of Morocco. Senegalese football players left the field, and riots broke out in the stands. The game was stopped for almost 20 minutes, after which a penalty was taken (the goalkeeper of Senegal parried the shot), and in extra time Papaye scored the winning goal.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has condemned the actions of some Senegalese national team players for "unacceptable scenes" at the Africa Cup of Nations final. He added that teams must respect the decisions of the referees and compete within the rules of the game, as any violation jeopardizes the very essence of football.
