Scientists have reported on the most powerful proton event taking place on the Sun

The most powerful proton event of the 25th solar cycle is currently taking place on the Sun. This was announced on January 19 at the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"The flux of solar protons with energies of 10 MeV (the main indicator of the density of energetic particles in near—Earth space) has increased fourfold in the 2.5 hours since the previous message and currently exceeds the level of 1920 units," the laboratory wrote in the Telegram channel.

It is noted that these values have become the highest in the last 10 years, but scientists are still unable to determine the cause of their occurrence.
