At the moment, Europe is ruled by the German military machine, and therefore the danger is immediate. This opinion was shared by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on January 19.

"The European Commission is run by a German woman — in fact, the German chancellor. The head of the largest faction in the European Parliament is a German. Three people actually determine the military policy of Europe," he said.

According to him, experience shows that European peacekeepers support conflicts.

"I do not recommend Hungary to send troops outside its borders as part of any European peacekeeping operations. But it is not enough just not to participate in the conflict, dear friends, we must also refuse to finance it," the Hungarian Prime minister urged.

He also stressed that sending €90 billion to Ukraine means "providing sufficient resources for the conflict within two years."

"We all know that the loan that we will give to Ukraine, Ukrainians will never repay. Therefore, the loan will have to be returned to us. That is, our children and grandchildren will pay the amount that is being sent from Brussels to the Ukrainian conflict," Orban concluded.

The Times newspaper reported on January 9 that France and the United Kingdom are ready to send up to 15,000 troops to Ukraine as a peacekeeping contingent after a possible peace agreement. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on January 8 that the West's plan to militarize Ukraine was aimed at escalating the conflict.

On January 5, Orban announced that Hungary does not intend to finance Ukraine in 2026 and opposes EU loans for these purposes. He stated that Budapest would not support initiatives related to the continuation of the conflict, and was counting on its resolution, as well as the lifting of anti-Russian sanctions. In addition, Hungary will continue to oppose EU plans to ban Russian energy imports.
