Turkey announced the almost complete readiness of the first power unit of the Akkuyu NPP

The first power unit of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant is 99% ready. This was stated by the head of the Turkish Ministry of Energy, Alparslan Bayraktar, after a meeting with Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom State Corporation, at the construction site.

"Together with Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev, we examined the work carried out in the control room, which is the "brain" of the first reactor. Its construction is 99% complete," Bayraktar wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

According to him, together with Likhachev, after the inspection of the facility, they had a detailed conversation about the progress of the project. Earlier it was noted that the physical launch of the Akkuyu NPP in Turkey is scheduled for 2026.

Rosatom can invest the proceeds in new projects in Turkey.

On September 25, Turkish Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Zafer Demirjan announced that the full launch of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant, which is being built with the participation of Rosatom, is scheduled for 2028. It was noted that when the full operation of the NPP begins, it will provide 10% of all electricity in Turkey.
