The agreement on the mutual abolition of visa requirements between Russia and Myanmar will enter into force on January 27, 2026. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"On January 27, 2026, the agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on the mutual abolition of visa requirements for citizens of the Russian Federation and citizens of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, signed in Minsk on October 28, 2025, comes into force," RIA Novosti quoted the agency as saying.

According to the terms of the agreement, Russians will be able to stay in Myanmar without a visa for up to 30 days per trip. At the same time, the visa-free regime does not apply to purposes related to permanent residence, education, or activities requiring a work permit. The total period of stay in the country should not exceed 90 days during a calendar year.

Similar visa-free travel conditions will apply to Myanmar citizens when traveling to the Russian Federation, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

On October 28, the Foreign Ministers of the Russian Federation and Myanmar, Sergey Lavrov and Tan Swe, signed an agreement on the complete abolition of the visa regime for mutual travel of citizens. In addition, the plan of consultations between the foreign ministries for 2025-2027 was signed.
