The dates of the main Muslim holidays of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Adha have been determined in Tatarstan. The corresponding decree was signed on January 19 by the head of the republic, Rustam Minnikhanov.

"Define in the Republic of Tatarstan: March 20, 2026, is the day on which, in accordance with the lunar calendar and established traditions, the Eid al-Adha holiday begins," reads the text of the decree published on the official website of the Government of the republic.

The Eid al-Adha holiday, dedicated to the end of the Hajj, will be celebrated by believers on May 27, 2026. This holiday traditionally lasts for three days, which are non-working days in most Muslim countries.

On June 3, 2017, Rushan Abbyasov, Deputy Chairman of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation (DUMA of the Russian Federation) for International Affairs and Hajj, said that Muslims should stay in their cities and pray at specially prepared sites during the Eid al-Adha holiday. Abbyasov also stressed that rituals related to the holiday should be carried out in specially designated places, such as farms or slaughterhouses, and not in courtyards or playgrounds.
