A suspect in the preparation of a terrorist attack has been detained in the Irkutsk region.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the FSB, detained in the Irkutsk region a suspect in the preparation of a terrorist attack and arson of an infrastructure facility. This was announced on January 19 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk.

It is noted that by the time the operatives appeared, the attacker had already managed to undermine. Noticing them, he tried to hide in a wooded area. However, he did not succeed.

"According to reports, at the end of September, an unknown man contacted an 18-year-old boy who introduced himself as an employee of a financial monitoring organization. The stranger said that the young man's family's money was at risk and needed to be "secured." The young man believed the attacker, took his grandmother's savings and transferred them to the account indicated to him," Wolf wrote on her Telegram channel.

Then he received a call from a false employee of the FSB of Russia, who said that the transfer went to finance the Ukrainian army. To avoid responsibility, the conman offered to participate in a special event related to the arson of an infrastructure facility. The young man followed all the instructions of the supervisor, set fire to one communication substation and headed for the next one. There he was detained by employees of the regional divisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the FSB of Russia.
