- A captured Ukrainian Armed Forces militant spoke about the deaths of Ukrainian soldiers awaiting evacuation.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) cannot organize the timely evacuation of wounded soldiers. Alexander Sotnikov, a captured soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, told about this on January 19 in a video released by the Russian Defense Ministry.
"There is a big problem with the evacuation of the wounded ("two hundredth"). If a soldier himself cannot reach the point where a tow truck can drive up, he is, in fact, doomed. The "three hundredth" (seriously injured) are evacuated, but only if they are in a certain place," Sotnikov said.
Sotnikov added that during the five-day march to the position in Dimitrov, he saw many dead colleagues. One of the soldiers he saw was "sitting", leaning against a tree, which made Sotnikov and his colleague think that he was still alive, but it turned out that he was not. The prisoner assumed that the deceased was wounded and tried to return to the evacuation position, but did not reach it.
Sotnikov also complained about the poor supply in the Armed Forces of Ukraine — there was not enough water, drones rarely delivered food. In addition, he noted the poor planning of military operations by the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As part of a group of four soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Sotnikov entered Dimitrov, two of them were immediately "covered by mortar fire." The militant and his comrade were captured by Russian soldiers of the Center group of forces.
"We were treated well, there were no problems. They immediately asked who we were, where we were from, and what our task was. We have explained everything in detail. We weren't beaten. Said: "If you behave normally, everything will be fine," he shared.
According to Sotnikov, he was forcibly mobilized, despite the fact that he had not served in military service and had a "reservation" from mobilization. He also said that he had heard that for $15-16 thousand, the staff of the military enlistment office could "let go." However, this does not give any guarantees.
Earlier, on January 17, a captured Ukrainian militant said that the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had forbidden the military to take the bodies of their colleagues in Gulyai-Pole, despite the corridor provided by Russia. He clarified that for the first time he thought about surrendering after the Russian army offered to pick up the dead militants.
