The population in China in 2025 decreased by 3.39 million people compared to 2024 and amounted to 1,404.89 billion citizens. This was announced on January 19 by the State Statistical Office of the People's Republic of China.

"By gender, the male population was 716.85 million, the female population was 688.04 million; the sex ratio in the total population was 104.19 (women – 100)," the agency's report says on its website.
