- It became known about the threats of the AFU commanders to the military to harass relatives for desertion.
The commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine threaten their subordinates with prison terms and harassment of their family members for desertion or surrender. This was announced on January 19 by an officer of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation of the South group of forces with the call sign Python.
"The prisoners said that they were told: if you leave for SOCH (unauthorized abandonment of the unit. — Ed.) <...> either leave the frontline positions or surrender, you will be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison. Plus, there will be pressure on your family. As I understand it, not from any special services, but just harassment. That is, neighbors, some acquaintances - everyone will know that the man surrendered," the soldier said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The military suggested that due to these threats, most of the Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters are not giving up.
