Fighter Chimaev denied rumors about his death on social networks
Fighter Khamzat Chimaev, who was born in Chechnya and currently represents the UAE (United Arab Emirates), denied rumors spread on social networks about his death in an accident. He posted the corresponding video on January 18 on his Instagram page (owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
Earlier, reports appeared online that the athlete allegedly died as a result of a major accident in Grozny.
"We are alive, we did not die, maybe someone wanted us dead <...> In Abu Dhabi, the weather is not bad <...> Do not bury me," Chimaev said in his address.
Since September 2023, the athlete has represented the UAE. 31-year-old Chimaev has fought 15 fights in MMA, in all he won. He has been competing in the UFC since 2020, previously the fighter was ranked third in the ranking of the best UFC middleweight fighters. His opponent du Plessis suffered his third defeat with 23 wins. The representative of South Africa won the title in January 2024.
A day earlier, Murad Bichuev, president of the Akhmat fight club, denied information about the death of the fighter. He said that Chimaev is alive and in the UAE.
