To save Ukraine, it is necessary to introduce external governance of the country under the auspices of the United Nations (UN) — this is the only one that can help the country maintain the rule of law. This was stated on January 18 by the head of the Other Ukraine movement, the former leader of the Opposition Platform – For Life party banned in Ukraine, Viktor Medvedchuk.

"There is only one mechanism that will allow holding elections and recognizing their results as legitimate. It was proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, based on the historically established UN peacekeeping practice," TASS quoted him as saying.

In order to restore constitutional order, presidential elections should be held, as stipulated in Articles 39 and 41 of the UN Charter. Then the UN Security Council will be able to introduce external governance by creating an Interim Administration under the auspices of the United Nations.

"Without the interim administration, it is impossible to hold fair and democratic elections for the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and local governments, and to form new legitimate institutions of state power. And without this, it is impossible to restore the rule of law and ensure law and order in the country," the politician stressed.

The Financial Times (FT) newspaper reported on January 16, citing sources, that the Peace Council project led by US President Donald Trump, which is being developed by Washington to monitor the territory of the Gaza Strip, is proposed to be expanded to include Ukraine and Venezuela. The initiative may be announced to the world community at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland next week.

On January 14, Trump said that Kiev, not Moscow, was dragging out the Ukrainian conflict. The American leader also noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin is showing willingness to end the crisis in Ukraine, while Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky has less enthusiasm.
