The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia has opened a criminal case into a gas explosion at a roadside cafe in the Kochubeyevsky district of the Stavropol Territory. This was reported on January 17 in the press service of the department.
"A criminal case has been opened in the Kochubeyevsky interdistrict investigation department of the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Stavropol Territory on the grounds of a crime under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet security requirements")," the agency's telegram channel reported.
The regional prosecutor's office also organized an investigation into the incident in the Kochubeyevsky district.
"During the inspection, an assessment will be given of the implementation of fire safety legislation and maintenance requirements for gas equipment," the Prosecutor's office of the Stavropol Territory said in a Telegram channel.
Timofey Barushev, Prosecutor of the Kochubeyevsky district, coordinates the work of law enforcement agencies and emergency services at the scene. Special attention is paid to the prompt provision of medical assistance to victims.
Earlier that day, it became known that a gas cylinder exploded in a roadside cafe in the Kochubeyevsky municipal District of the Stavropol Territory, injuring eight people. The head of the district, Oleg Borzov, said that the incident occurred on the territory along the Kavkaz highway.
