- Megafon noted an increase in the number of international roaming users during the New Year holidays
Last New Year's holidays were spent abroad by 22.5% more Megafon customers than a year earlier, the press service of the operator reported.
The Asian direction grew most actively, led by Vietnam (+200%). Jordan (+168%) and, for the first time, Bosnia and Herzegovina (+93%) also entered the top 3 in terms of the dynamics of tourist flow growth, Megafon said. The number of trips to the CIS countries, Africa and the Middle East increased equally by a quarter. The operator's customers traveled to South America more often by 21%, while Europe and North America increased by 14% each.
The leading countries in terms of the number of guests using Megafon's services are Belarus, Turkey and the UAE. The company's subscribers spent the most mobile traffic in Belarus, Thailand and China.
In Africa, Egypt is the traditional leader (more than 80%), followed by Mauritius (it is also the first in terms of growth with 91%) and South Africa. A year earlier, Mauritius's place in the top three was occupied by the Seychelles. In the Middle East, vacationers continue to appreciate Turkey and the UAE, as well as Saudi Arabia.
During these New Year holidays, guests from Kazakhstan, Belarus and China most often came to Russia from abroad, while last year Kazakhstan was only in fifth place, Megafon noted.
The top 10 also includes the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and a number of European countries, including Austria, France, the Netherlands and Denmark.
