French President Emmanuel Macron, who spoke to military personnel with a noticeable hemorrhage in his eye, was not in serious ophthalmological danger. This was announced on January 15 by Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences, ophthalmic surgeon Tatiana Shilova.

"This is a classic picture of subconjunctival hemorrhage. In simple terms, this is a rupture of a small vessel under the mucous membrane of the eye. It looks really scary — the eye is flooded with blood, it turns red, sometimes there is a slight swelling," the specialist explained in a conversation with RT.

According to the doctor, such a condition, as a rule, does not pose a threat to vision. Among the possible causes of its occurrence, she named a sharp jump in blood pressure, severe physical overstrain and chronic fatigue. Hemorrhage can also be caused by increased vascular fragility.

Earlier on January 15, Macron spoke to the military with a burst blood vessel in his eye. The event was held in the French city of Istres. He apologized for his unsightly appearance, but reassured that nothing serious had happened to him.
