Patrushev spoke about the construction of MSW processing facilities in the Krasnodar Territory

On January 15, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev paid a working visit to the Krasnodar Territory, where he inspected the Novorossiysk municipal Solid Waste (MSW) landfill and the Kopanskaya waste recycling complex, and also held a meeting during which participants discussed the pace of implementation of roadmaps for the creation of MSW management facilities in the territory.

"Many economic sectors are developing in Kuban, and the region itself is visited by a huge number of tourists. As a result, about 40% of the total volume of municipal solid waste in the Southern Federal District is generated here annually. Given this, of course, it is necessary to work in such a way as to avoid the risks of "garbage collapses," including during periods of active growth in the tourist flow," Patrushev said.

According to the deputy chairman of the government of the Russian Federation, three new facilities are already under construction, one of which is KPO Kopanskaya. It is noted that a landfill for the disposal of 600 thousand tons of waste per year should be introduced by the end of January. In the future, another facility will also appear here, where about 300 thousand tons of MSW will be disposed of annually.

Patrushev pointed out that in order to achieve the goal of forming a closed-loop economy in Kuban, 12 infrastructure facilities will have to be built in the coming years. Their total waste treatment capacity should exceed 2 million tons per year, and 1 million tons for recycling.

Earlier, on December 25, 2025, Patrushev summed up the results of the year's work in the field of MSW management at a meeting in the "incident" format. During the event, it was noted that as part of the implementation of the national project "Environmental Well-being" and the federal project "Closed-loop Economy", construction and modernization of the MSW industry infrastructure are continuing throughout the country.
