TFR staff returned 1 trillion rubles to victims and the state over 15 years of work
Over 15 years of work, employees of the Investigative Committee of Russia have solved almost 100,000 crimes of the past years through the introduction of modern technologies, during which time more than 1 trillion rubles have been returned to the state and victims. This was announced on January 15 by the head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, at a solemn event dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the department.
"We managed to solve 10,000 murders, 5,000 cases of serious bodily harm resulting in death, and more than 6,000 sexual crimes," Bastrykin said.
During their work, the TFR staff reviewed 5.5 million requests. Almost 1.5 million criminal cases against 1.6 million defendants have been sent to the courts. In addition, investigators have sent 147 thousand corruption cases against 160 thousand defendants to the court. More than 8,000 defendants have a special legal status.
"As a rule, these are high—ranking officials, and they don't give up without a fight," Bastrykin said.
According to the head of the TFR, as a result, these defendants reimbursed 77 billion rubles of damage, and property in the amount of 225 billion rubles was seized. Also, over the past 15 years, the investigation of more than 30 thousand cases of tax crimes has been completed.
"540 billion rubles of unpaid taxes have been reimbursed to the state budget. The property of entrepreneurs who evade their payments in the amount of 314 billion rubles was seized. In total, more than 1 trillion rubles were reimbursed to the state and the victims," the head of the department added.
In addition, 150,000 criminal cases of violations of the rights of orphaned children and crimes against minors have been submitted to the courts over the past 15 years. In total, the rights of 230 thousand children were restored. Also, according to Bastrykin, the department's investigators have been carefully documenting war crimes committed by militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), nationalists, terrorists and mercenaries since the first days of the coup in Ukraine.
"Since 2014, we have initiated almost 9,000 criminal cases against representatives of only the military-political leadership of Ukraine, Ukrainian law enforcement agencies and foreign mercenaries," the head of the TFR noted.
These crimes have no statute of limitations, so no one will be able to escape responsibility, said Alexander Bastrykin. 1,000 war criminals have already been convicted. Investigations into the genocide of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War (WWII) are also continuing — court decisions on these cases have already been made in 34 regions.
"We will find everyone who is involved in these grave atrocities," said the head of the TFR.
On January 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a telegram on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the creation of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, noted the work of representatives of the department who are involved in the territory of the special military operation (SVO), helping to establish order in the Donbas. He stressed that over the years of its existence, this body has become one of the important links of the domestic law enforcement system.
