- The court chose to ban certain actions of the Novokuznetsk maternity hospital department
The Central District Court of Novokuznetsk has chosen a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions to Alexey Emikh, acting head of the intensive care unit of Novokuznetsk Maternity hospital No. 1. This was reported on January 15 by a correspondent of Izvestia.
It is noted that during the court session, the investigator reported that Emikh pleaded not guilty in the case of the deaths of nine infants in the institution.
Obstetric hospital No. 1 of the city clinical hospital No. 1 in Novokuznetsk temporarily stopped receiving patients on January 13 due to an excess incidence of respiratory infection. Subsequently, it became known about the death of nine babies in the hospital during the New Year holidays. The Russian Investigative Committee confirmed the death of newborns, and a criminal case was opened.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on January 9 that measures should be taken to prevent the deaths of infants in Russian maternity hospitals. He stressed that work is currently underway at both the regional and federal levels, and an appropriate commission is involved.
On the same day, during the court session, the investigation asked to arrest Emikh for two months. It was also reported that nine mothers of deceased infants were recognized as victims in this case.
