The calculation of a 120-mm mortar of the Russian Armed Forces destroyed the control point of Ukrainian UAVs in the DPR

Mortars of the "Southern" group of troops destroyed the control point of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was announced on January 15 by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The target was discovered during the fighting by scouts of the 70th Motorized Rifle Division of the Southern Group of Forces, and its coordinates were transferred to the calculation of a 120-mm mortar. The ministry clarified that the precise fire of the Russian military destroyed the identified object used by the Ukrainian militants for reconnaissance, using direct hits.

"Having worked out the enemy's UAV control point with calculation, we destroyed it. After completing the task, they disguised the gun and went into hiding," said the commander of the mortar crew with the call sign Jacob.

The Russian Ministry of Defense noted that thanks to the constant work of the gunners of the "Southern" group of Forces, who are conducting counter-battery warfare and effectively carrying out tasks to destroy personnel and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, motorized rifle units are constantly moving forward and improving their positions in the group's area of responsibility.

A day earlier, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that artillery units of 120-millimeter self-propelled guns 2S9 "Nona-S" of the 299th Guards Yaroslavl Parachute Regiment of the Ivanovo Guards Airborne unit from the Dnepr group of forces destroyed UAVs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the right bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region. One of the soldiers who took part in this operation, the commander of the gun with the call sign Gam, said that he and his colleagues have quite a lot of targets in the Kherson area.
