On January 14, Venezuelan Presidential Commissioner Delcy Rodriguez announced that she had had a telephone conversation with American leader Donald Trump, during which she discussed "unresolved issues" with him.

"Today I had a long, productive and polite telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, which took place in an atmosphere of mutual respect," she said in a message on her Telegram channel.

Rodriguez added that during the conversation, the parties discussed a bilateral work program.

On January 3, Trump announced that the United States had successfully launched a large-scale strike against Venezuela, during which President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Celia Flores were captured and taken out of the country.

On January 4, the Supreme Court of Venezuela recognized Delcy Rodriguez as the acting President of the republic. On January 5, she took the oath of office as interim head of State.

On January 7, Rodriguez announced that Venezuela is open to international energy agreements based on respect. In particular, the country is ready to cooperate with all countries of its hemisphere, as well as with Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe.
