The United Kingdom has shut down its embassy in Tehran. This was announced on January 14 by the political editor of the Daily Mirror, Lizzie Buchan, citing a source from the kingdom's authorities.
"We have temporarily closed the British Embassy in Tehran, now it will operate remotely. The recommendations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on travel have been updated to reflect this change in the work of the consulate," Bukan quotes an unnamed government representative on his Facebook page (ex. Twitter).

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said at a meeting with ambassadors of other countries that the Iranian authorities had taken control of the situation with mass protests in the country.
