- Residents of Moscow give animals a comfortable life with the help of the Mospitomets service
In 2025, more than 2.7 thousand cats and dogs from city shelters found a home: residents of Moscow took pets directly from shelters, from extension exhibitions, and also found them through the Mospitomets service and social networks. This was reported on the website of the Moscow City Hall on January 14.
Maria, a user of the service, said that after the loss of her beloved cat, the family decided to help the animal from the shelter: the children offered to "save someone," and, looking through the questionnaires, they chose a kitten named Stoppy, similar to their previous pet. Stoppy left Zelenograd orphanage. The house was also found by the dog Pooh from the Iskra shelter, who had previously been released after an illness, and the dog Lapa from the ZAO shelter — thanks to the help of volunteers, she quickly adapted to urban life and family, the Moscow city News agency reports.
The mayor's office recalled that there are 13 city shelters in Moscow, where more than 15 thousand neglected animals are now kept, writes Moscow 24.
Earlier on January 14, the president of the Russian Cynological Federation, Vladimir Golubev, told RT how to properly take care of pets during severe frosts. According to him, it is important to reduce walking time and keep pets warm and watch their paws. Special wax or shoes will be useful for protection, notes 360.ru .
On the same day, the rector of the first professional Cynological Institute, Konstantin Karapetyants, told the National Assembly that no additional regulation of the activities of pet breeders was required, and unaccounted-for pedigreed pets were not found on the street.
