Historical parallels are drawn in St. Petersburg. The exhibition dedicated to the reign of Emperor Alexander III tells about a period of unprecedented economic and industrial growth. It was at this time that Russia took one of the leading positions among the world powers.

The exhibition is the first part of a large—scale historical project. It is devoted to the main directions of domestic and foreign policy, government reforms and achievements.

"The development of railways, which Alexander III was engaged in, gave an impetus to the development of our industry. Back then, we were buying rails, steam locomotives, and much more. We started producing everything ourselves, and today we also produce most of everything ourselves," said Alexander Beglov, Governor of St. Petersburg.

The exhibits were provided by more than 20 museums in the country and private collectors: personal letters, diaries, belongings of Alexander III, as well as weapons, paintings and ship models.

In 2024, the Tretyakov Gallery also opened the exhibition "Peredvizhniki" in honor of the 130th anniversary of the death of the penultimate Russian monarch Alexander III.
