The massage therapist named ways to restore the body after the holidays
After long New Year's holidays with their plentiful feasts, disrupted regime and reduced mobility, many are faced with a feeling of heaviness, swelling, muscle tension and loss of strength. Alexander Skrypchenko, a massage instructor at the Academician Roitberg Clinic, explained in an interview with Izvestia on January 13 how to gently help the body return to a working rhythm, avoiding harsh and intense methods.
According to the expert, in the first days after the holidays, lymphatic drainage massage is most effective, aimed at relieving edema and improving lymph outflow, which is especially important after excess salt and alcohol. Then, on the third or fifth day, you can connect a classic relaxing back and neck massage to relieve the muscle clamps accumulated due to stress and a sedentary lifestyle. From the fifth day, a toning massage is recommended, including the abdominal area, to improve microcirculation and digestion, but it should not be performed on an empty stomach or immediately after eating.
"Special attention should be paid to the feet, using reflexology techniques that help normalize the gastrointestinal tract and reduce anxiety. Every day, you can practice myofascial release — self—massage using a special roll or ball to restore muscle mobility and relieve the feeling of stagnation," the expert shared.
Skrypchenko emphasizes that recovery should begin with gentle techniques, avoiding intense effects, especially in a state of acute malaise or severe fatigue. It is important to drink enough water before and after treatments to enhance the effect and combine massage with light physical activity such as walking or stretching.
According to the expert, a properly selected massage is not just a pleasant procedure, but a powerful tool for a gentle reboot of the body, helping to restore lightness and clarity after a few days.
Earlier, on January 10, it was reported that in order to restore digestion and normalize weight after the New Year holidays, it is recommended to increase the consumption of vegetables with a high fiber content. Experts noted that the weight gained due to fluid retention and gastrointestinal overload usually goes away within 7-10 days without drastic measures.
