The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine denied information about a broken sewer
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine has denied a statement by Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Kucherenko that the basement of the department's building in Kiev was flooded with waste due to a burst sewer pipe. This was reported on January 13 in the Ukrainian edition of UNN.
"The Ministry of Energy broke through the sewer in the basement. I don't even know how to take it — is this some kind of sign for a new leader? A signal from heaven? Won't this event undermine the country's energy security completely?", the deputy wrote on the Facebook page (owned by Meta, the organization is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
The ministry noted that this information is not true.
"There is a problem in the heat supply network, which is now being fixed," the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy added.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced on January 11 that residents of more than 1,000 houses in the Ukrainian capital remain without heat supply, despite repairs. He added that the water supply, which had been disrupted in some areas, had been resumed for all residents. Nevertheless, he called the energy supply situation in the city difficult.
Klitschko said on January 9 that Kiev residents who have the opportunity to leave their apartments should do so due to the lack of heat and water in their homes. According to the mayor, half of the houses in Kiev are not heated — almost 6 thousand people live in these buildings.
At the same time, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky criticized the Kiev city authorities for poor preparation for power outages in the city, urging them not to run away from problems. He added that repair crews are working to restore power supply networks in many cities of Ukraine.
