Ruslan Malikov's production based on the documentary play by Ksenia Adamovich was created with the support of a social project Деменция.net . Playwright Ksenia Adamovich wrote the play based on the real stories of people who came into contact with dementia. The name originated from the history of ancient Arkaim. The city that gave the play its name was surrounded by an impregnable wall that no one had ever tried to storm. Ksenia Adamovich transferred this image of isolation from the world into our lives, where those who are faced with dementia of a loved one are surrounded by the same impregnable wall of silence. And those who disappear behind the walls of Arkaim, gradually dissolving into illness and time.

"The play was born out of life, even some of the lyrics are taken almost verbatim — this is the story of my grandfather," Adamovich said.

The scene of the play is a metaphysical railway station, from which the train departs for the mysterious Arkaim. The characters of the play gathered in the waiting room, where memories are intertwined with reality. This is a humorous and sad journey through the time of a grandfather and granddaughter, whose goal is to remain human. Ultimately, Arkaim is not a play about dementia. This is a play about love and mercy, full of gentle humor and tenderness.

Ruslan Malikov is sure that Arkaim exists on the border where artistic expression and important social issues meet.

"They mix, the accents change over time, the meanings seem to grow, unfold gradually within the performance. And today I'm formulating the theme of Arkaim for myself as a story about human freedom," says the director.

"An amazing team of like-minded people gathered around the performance, we are almost a family, and this feeling always "spills over" into the hall. Yes, dementia changes your life, but even in the most difficult moments there is a place for lightness, faith and laughter," said actress Nelly Uvarova.

Fees from ticket sales will be directed to the NGO "Dementia.no" to the targeted support of the project's wards.
