French farmers entered Paris on tractors to protest against the future trade agreement between the EU and Mercosur (an economic bloc that includes Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay), which, in their opinion, threatens the development of local agriculture. This was reported on January 13 by the Reuters news agency.

Paris police reported about 350 tractors that arrived at the protest. One column of vehicles was located at the Arc de Triomphe, and the other arrived at the French parliament building.

The demonstration was organized by FNSEA (National Federation of Agricultural Exploiters Syndicates), one of the largest agricultural unions in France.

"The EU-Mercosur agreement has been approved, despite the fact that the European Parliament has not yet expressed its opinion. This will lead to the import of foreign goods that do not meet the standards required for French agriculture and which we can perfectly produce in France," said Damien Greffin, FNSEA Vice President and farmer.

The organizer of the action clarified that in addition to the rally in front of the French parliament, FNSEA plans to hold a demonstration at the European Parliament building in Strasbourg on January 20.

The ici radio station reported on December 14, 2025, that about 100 farmers and breeders demonstrated in front of the former office of French Agriculture Minister Annie Genevar in Pontaillé, hanging a calf corpse on a tree with a sign reading "Our animals, our lives." The action took place as part of nationwide protests against the government's policy to combat skin diseases in cattle.
