The preliminary causes of death of infants in the Novokuznetsk maternity hospital have been named. All infants were diagnosed with either intrauterine or neonatal infection. This was announced on January 13 by a source of Izvestia.
It is specified that it was these infections that caused critical complications.
On the same day, it became known that obstetric hospital No. 1 of the city clinical hospital No. 1 named after G.P. Kurbatov in Novokuznetsk temporarily stopped receiving patients. It was clarified that this decision was made due to the excess incidence of respiratory infection.
Later, it was reported about the death of nine babies in a maternity hospital in Novokuznetsk. A criminal case was opened into the incident on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code ("Causing death by negligence"), Part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code ("Negligence").
The Minister of Health of Kuzbass, Andrei Tarasov, in turn, confirmed the deaths of infants in a maternity hospital in Novokuznetsk. In addition, the governor of Kuzbass, Ilya Seredyuk, temporarily dismissed the chief physician of the hospital in whose maternity hospital the babies died.
The Ministry of Health of Kuzbass informed Izvestia that four children remain under observation in the intensive care unit after birth in the Novokuznetsk maternity hospital. Some children have been in the intensive care unit for more than a month.
