The winter season of 2026 in women's fashion in Russia is marked by Slavic aesthetics, volume and expressive textures. Kristina Sudnik, an entrepreneur and head of the Bahar Design women's clothing brand, told Izvestia on January 15 about the key trends of the cold season.

According to her, this year, Russian and world fashion is increasingly turning to images related to comfort, history and the visual power of the northern style. On the catwalks and in urban images, the Slavic Core trend has become entrenched — "Slavic chic", which reinterprets traditional elements through a modern cut and eco-friendly materials. First of all, we are talking about voluminous floor-length fur coats, fur hats, expressive collars and saturated shades, while the main emphasis is on artificial fur products.

"Experts from Honest Sign, the national product labeling system, have recorded a phenomenal surge in sales. In the three quarters of 2025, sales of fur coats and sheepskin coats made of artificial fur in the Russian Federation increased fourfold compared to last year. Russian women have purchased more than 54,000 of these products," the entrepreneur noted.

At the same time, modern eco-fur coats are less and less limited to classic colors: animalistic prints, bright shades and complex textures are in fashion, which visually look expensive and at the same time retain a sense of comfort.

Down jackets, while remaining a basic part of the winter wardrobe, have also changed their character. As Sudnik notes, in 2026 they are moving away from shapeless silhouettes and becoming a full-fledged element of a stylish image. Ultrashort models in the aesthetics of sports chic, "marshmallow" pastel shades, voluminous shoulders and fur collars in the spirit of the 1990s are in demand. Against the background of milder winters, interest in insulated leather jackets and bomber jackets has noticeably increased: according to market estimates, demand for these categories has almost doubled, while sales of classic down jackets have grown more modestly — by about 21%.

Special attention is being paid to hats this season, the expert added. Along with the usual hats, woolen scarves, knitted headbands and patterned caps have become fashionable. At the same time, fur earflaps remain one of the key symbols of the Russian winter and are organically combined with both fur coats and down jackets and coats.

In shoes, the trend for "Slavic chic" is combined with practicality. Instead of traditional felt boots, designers offer moon boots and outdoor boots with massive soles, and for fans of more elegant solutions, high chelsea boots and tube boots that allow you to maintain a balance between style and comfort in conditions of snow and frost.

"The color scheme of winter also stands out in style. Now it is not necessary to turn into a gray mass in the cold season. Feel free to choose lime, cherry, cream, frosty blue. And also amaranth or green gold are fashionable now. Do you appreciate restraint? Then fur coats in chocolate color or coats in caramel or graphite color will undoubtedly attract attention," the entrepreneur concluded.

On October 6, stylist Vladislav Lisovets spoke about the trend for faux fur coats. According to him, it is convenient to wear jackets under such voluminous sheepskin coats, which are also on trend now, and vintage fur coats from second-hand stores will perfectly fit into the current look. It is worth combining insulated outerwear with elegant shoes and bright accessories to make the cold winter look stylish.
