The forecaster predicted a sharp cold snap in Moscow next weekend
On Monday, one of the snowiest days of the current period was observed in the Moscow region: 3 to 6 cm of snow fell overnight in Moscow and the region. Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, told Izvestia about this on January 12.
"Despite heavy precipitation, the average daily temperature on Monday remains above the climatic norm by about 1.5–2 degrees," she said.
Light snow will remain in places on Tuesday, but its amount will not exceed 1 mm in 12 hours. At the same time, the temperature will gradually decrease: at night the thermometer will drop to -8...-10 degrees, during the day the indicators will be about the same.
"More intense precipitation is expected on Wednesday, January 14: snowfall may bring from 1 to 3 mm of precipitation. At the same time, the cold snap will increase: night temperatures will reach -13...-15 degrees, daytime temperatures -8...-10," the forecaster shared.
In the following days, according to forecasts, light snowfalls will be observed almost daily in places. The temperature background will continue to decrease: on Friday night, minimum values are expected in the range from -8 to -13 degrees, in the afternoon — from -5 to -10.
By Saturday, January 17, the frost will increase: at night the temperature in the region may drop to -15... -20 degrees, in the afternoon — to -10 ...-15.
In the coming weekend, the air temperature will be below the climatic norm by about 7 degrees, which will mark significant fluctuations in the temperature regime during the current week of January.
