Two skiers died in an avalanche in the Val-d'Isere commune in southeastern France. This was reported on January 10 by the BFMTV television network with reference to the tourism department of the commune.

"Two victims were buried under 2.5 m of snow in an off—piste skiing area known as the Lost Valley," the publication says.

The tourists were found in critical condition and were not subject to intensive care.

It is noted that after Cyclone Goretti hit France, the risk of avalanches in the region is estimated at four out of five possible points.

A day earlier, it was reported that due to Cyclone Goretti in France, 380,000 homes lost electricity. Powerful wind gusts that reached 213 km/h in the Manche department caused massive power outages, downed trees, damaged power lines, and local flooding.

Cyclone Goretti hit the west coast of France on Thursday night, causing the strongest storms of the season.
