Advisers to US President Donald Trump met with the envoys of Denmark and Greenland at the White House in connection with the latest statements by the American leader about his intention to annex the island. This was reported on January 8 by the Associated Press (AP).

"The ambassadors of Denmark and Greenland in Washington have begun active efforts to urge American lawmakers, as well as key Trump administration officials, to back away from President Donald Trump's call for the 'seizure' of a strategic Arctic island," the publication said.

It is noted that Danish Ambassador Jesper Moeller Sørensen and Greenland's chief representative in Washington, Jakob Isbosetsen, arrived at the talks.
