Durov declared the EU's war against privacy
In the countries of the European Union (EU), the war against privacy continues unabated. Pavel Durov, co-founder of the Telegram messenger, pointed this out on January 7.
The Russian businessman spoke about the rules on the automatic exchange of information on crypto assets and transactions with them between EU countries that came into force in early 2026.
"The war against privacy never stops in the EU. Of course, all this is done for their own good. Who knows what these sneaky Europeans are capable of without additional surveillance?" said Durov on his Facebook page (ex. Twitter).
Also on December 5, 2025, Durov said that the European Union (EU) was introducing deliberately impossible requirements that serve as a tool to punish companies that are not ready to meekly accept restrictions on freedom of speech.
