The United States has deployed 14 C-17 Globemaster transporters and two heavily armed AC-130J Ghostrider aircraft to air bases in the UK. This was reported on January 7 by The Times newspaper.

"Since Saturday, a fleet of at least 14 C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft and two heavily armed AC-130J Ghostrider aircraft have landed at three Royal Air Force bases in Suffolk and Gloucestershire," the publication says.
