The Ministry of Internal Affairs warned about fraud by applying for a CTP policy
The Russian Interior Ministry said that offers of paid assistance in obtaining a CTP policy could lead to loss of money and invalidation of the insurance. This was announced on January 7 in the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
At the request of TASS, the agency explained that all CTP policies are issued directly through insurance companies — in the office or on the official website, and only accredited agents have the right to sell them. At the same time, the insurance company itself pays the commission to such agents, and it is already included in the price of the policy.
"Sometimes there are companies that help you apply on the insurance website and charge money for the service. It seems that everything is fair: you were not sold insurance, but simply helped. But in fact, this is a violation," the Interior Ministry's press center noted.
They stressed that such actions can be qualified not as a consultation, but as an illegal resale of an insurance product.
"Such a service may be regarded as illegal resale, not consultation. As a result, there is a chance that the policy will not be recognized as valid," the agency added.
Earlier, on December 2, 2025, it was reported that one of the most common fraudulent schemes with CTP policies remains the staging of car theft and traffic accidents. The Interior Ministry noted that with fictitious hijackings, fraudsters are entitled to insurance payments, and it can be extremely difficult to prove fraud, since cars are quickly disassembled for spare parts. Also, malefactors often organize fake accidents, accompanying them with falsification of the circumstances of the incident and perjury.
