- Venus and Mars will converge with the Sun in the sky next time only in 2267.
Venus and Mars will next converge with the Sun in the sky at almost the same point only in 2267. This was announced on January 5 at the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"The next simultaneous connection of both planets with the Sun at a distance of less than 1 degree will take place only in the summer of 2267, that is, in 2.5 centuries," the laboratory's Telegram channel says.
Scientists reported that the planets will converge in the sky on January 7-8, 2026, having approached the Sun at a minimum distance. They suggested that such a connection occurs for the first time in the civilized history of mankind and will be repeated only after tens of thousands of years. Since the event takes place in the daytime sky, it is impossible to observe it from the Ground, and images from a space telescope are used for video recording.
Researchers at the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the IKI RAS on Thursday, January 1, warned of the onset of the first noticeable magnetic storm of 2026 on the night of January 2 to 3. They reported that her level was G2. In addition, they did not rule out an increase in this indicator to G3.
