SF commented on Trump's words about Denmark

European countries, such as the "political dwarf" Denmark, should be prepared for scenarios when global "rules" in the world will be formed without the participation of Europe and Greenland will become part of the "Western Hemisphere". This opinion was expressed on January 6 by Andrey Klishas, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on State Construction.

"If the world is governed by "rules" rather than law, then these rules may well be invented without the participation of Europe (which they fought for, and ran into), and the entire territory of Greenland, for example, may well be declared part of the Western Hemisphere," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

Klishas noted that Greenland actually belongs to North America, not Europe.

"Denmark's legal grounds for owning this territory are based on the same colonial past, the right of the strong. And who now considers Denmark, this loud political dwarf, to be strong?" the senator asks.

The White House's foreign policy is increasingly dependent on the domestic agenda

On the same day, US Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller noted that the White House had questioned the legitimacy of Denmark's control over Greenland. He pointed out that the EU's territorial claims are based on the fact that Greenland is a colony of Denmark. Thus, for the security of the Arctic and the protection of NATO interests, the island must become part of the United States.

The US administration is also working on a draft free association agreement with Greenland that could improve the standard of living of the island's population. Attempts at direct negotiations with the authorities of Greenland were rejected, and Danish Prime Minister Mette declared the inadmissibility of any attempts to annex the island.
